Alex & Juliet’s Fairytale Proposal
Some friendships are simply meant to be, and for me, that's always been the case with Juliet. We've been through so much together since our college roommate days. I still vividly remember her telling me, with stars in her eyes, about meeting this boy she was completely obsessed with. Their meet-cute story was straight out of a movie: she was serving at a local restaurant, he walked in with friends, and from that moment on, they were inseparable.
Our phone calls often stretched for hours, covering everything from life and work to, of course, boys. But with Alex, I'd never seen Juliet so genuinely happy. It filled my heart with warmth to witness her joy. A few months ago, she confided that she thought Alex might propose soon, and naturally, I reached out to him right away.
The Secret Keeping Challenge
As best friends do, Juliet and I spent countless hours discussing her dream ring, every date night that felt like "the one," and their exciting plans for the house they were building. And let me tell you – when you talk to someone every single day, keeping a secret of this magnitude is incredibly tough!
Alex and I went back and forth for about a month, hashing out every detail of his proposal plan: how he'd do it, when, and where. We debated locations and dates until we finally landed on the most gorgeous garden in Elkhart, Indiana: Wellfield Botanic Gardens.
The Day Arrives
The week leading up to it, I was getting texts from both of them – suspicions, nerves, excitement, and a whole lot of everything in between.
Then the day finally arrived, and honestly, I barely slept the night before from sheer excitement! I drove nearly three hours to meet them at the agreed-upon spot. The gardens themselves were absolutely stunning: fields of tulips, vibrant flowers, serene ponds, winding creeks, and my personal favorite – graceful willow trees. It truly had it all.
I wandered around, patiently waiting for the future Mr. and Mrs. to arrive. And when they did, it was nothing short of magical. The air was filled with love, tears, laughter, and an uncontainable joy between the two of them. It was a truly beautiful day, and I'm so incredibly glad I could be a part of capturing such a heartfelt, promised moment.
